Sarah will be running with Danni Byrne, from Tenerife Fitness, who has been a huge help throughout the training and whose idea it was initially to enter the marathon. Training fully began in January this year with Danni and Sarah pounding the pavements 3/4 times a week in Las Americas first thing in the morning! Sarah had never run off a treadmill before or for longer than 4 km, so there were doubts at the beginning over whether 21.1 km was achievable, but with Danni's expert training advice the kilometres gradully crept up with the girls running 17km last week!
Now that the marathon is in sight, Sarah and Danni have decided to run in aid of a local charity, "Helping Hands in Tenerife". Helping Hands is run by Liz Montague and 2 friends who have raised money in the past for a whole host of local people and organisations. They are currently focusing their charity efforts on the Martha Dos Charity for children with Cerebal Palsy in La Laguna. There is a charity meal with raffles organised by Helping Hands on the 3rd April 2010 in Biancos restaurant in aid of the Martha Dos Charity. Sarah and Danni would like to help by donating whatever sponsership they recieve towards this cause.
